A Slave to Yourself

A Slave to Yourself:

Regardless of what it is everything in life will pass, except for what you choose to hold onto; it’s this holding that becomes your master and makes you a slave to yourself…

No matter what happens in life, good, bad, or indifferent it will pass, so it makes no sense to make something an obstacle. Mostly it’s done because of ignorance and the more ignorant one is, the tighter the hold is on the way it is thought how things should be. The more you think things are needed to be a certain way, the more difficult will be its passing. It will still pass eventually, but the passing will have resistance attached to it. This resistance is what makes for difficult going because it’s as if you’re going upstream in a boat without a paddle. You may get there, but it is much more difficult than it needs to be.

If your hold isn’t let go of completely, the thing being held onto will return again and again, hence I often say “I only made five mistakes in my life, but I made them over and over. This is a self created slavery, life doesn’t do this, circumstances don’t do this, people don’t do this, it is done by yourself; you’re probably unaware this is even occurring. This all transpires without the assistance of an outside source it’s as though one is their own master along with being their own slave. This is because of not understanding how everything in life passes except for what is chosen to hold onto, and it is the thing held onto that becomes your master by making you a slave to yourself…
