This site has been created to expand and share on some of the insights that led to the writing of It's Monday Only in Your Mind: You Are Not Your Thoughts.

If a person isn’t aware they’re not living life to the fullest, they’ll settle for the way life is and there’s no chance of this changing because there’s no awareness it’s not being lived to the fullest.

It’s great to develop something to use as a tool to assist in the possibility of waking up from the sleep of unconsciousness, but what’s used must be practical if it’s going to be useful. So here’s my practical approach to what happens when a thought arises and how the Four Principles apply when it comes to the thoughts of the Conditioned Mind. Take any thought and watch how it arises, if it’s not allowed to just pass through, it’s because it has some form of conditioned energy associated with it, this applies to any thought. This is the First Principle – Understanding. Until a person’s thoughts are understood that without one’s conditioning there wouldn’t be any attachment to their thoughts, nothing will ever be different regardless of how much one wants it to be. It’s that simple, because of the way one is conditioned the Second Principle arises – Attachment.

Can you see this with just about any thought that arises? There’s the thought, then there’s attachment to it, simple this isn’t rocket science. It’s not as deep as some make it, the mind is complex only because one’s conditioning makes it so. So now with awareness one sees the only reason a thought takes control is because of attachment, this is a huge step towards the Third Principle – Realization. This is paramount because without this realization the awareness that this is happening keeps one confined to whatever conditioning they’ve developed over the course of their life. If a person isn’t aware that they’re not living life to the fullest, they will settle for the way life is and there’s no chance of life changing because there’s no awareness it’s not being lived to the fullest. With the realization of this, it’s time to move on to the Fourth Principle  – Practice.

This is where the rubber meets the road so to speak. With an understanding of how a thought arises, how attachment feeds a thought, and the realization that this is happening, one can finally develop the necessary discipline through practice (sitting or meditation) to allow the mind to settle to break the Conditioned Minds hold. What this practice allows is for one to stop a conditioned thought in its tracks so freedom can be had. This practice is the Principle that brings it all together. In time you will see how this simple yet powerful Four Principle process can change your entire existence. Or not and never live life to the fullest as intended.
