Listening to Life

Listen to life, not the noise in the head, but the sounds of life itself. The sounds of life are where one can turn the noise in the head aside, not because it’s resisted but because it’s not heard.

Listen to the crackling pipes of the heat coming up in the morning. Or the sound of the water as the shower is turned on. Feel the water in the shower without giving it a particular label, just be in the moment. Do you hear or is life passing you by because the noise in the head is in control? This noise isn’t to be resisted because that’s just more noise, look at the noise, see it, hear it, feel it, embrace it because it’s what there. But don’t cling to it because it will be the very thing that stops you from hearing life’s sounds which blocks life from truly being lived.

You can have millions, you can have nothing, you can be a CEO or a dishwasher, but none of this matters when it comes to what blocks life’s sounds, clinging to those things does. If life is seen through the noise in the head, than that is the way one’s life will be lived, but if a moment can be taken to hear the sounds that life offers, it makes for such a different existence because in that moment no clinging exist, no label is needed.

One is alive either way life is viewed, but it isn’t truly lived when there’s clinging which creates noise. In our silence we can hear, in our silence all is seen, not because one is pious, but because the noise in the head isn’t in control. One can only follow what’s heard and if the world has your ear, unfortunately the sounds of life aren’t going to be heard because the noise in the head will be in control.
